The Allow Outgoing Access? or Allow Incoming Access? window displays when a program is attempting Internet communication and the firewall needs a decision from you.
An "Allow Outgoing Access?" or "Allow Incoming Access?" window displays when the firewall needs a decision from you on how to proceed. The window lets you allow or block access, and provides information to help you make a decision.
Note: You can take the time you need to make
your decision. If the window starts to fade (an indication that it's idle),
place your mouse over the window so that it remains active until you make
your choice. More information on idle prompts:
How do I turn off all "Allow Access?" prompts?
Click one of the following four buttons:
Allow once. Allows access this time. The prompt will display the next time this program attempts communication.
Allow always. Allows access all the time; you will no longer see a prompt for this program (in the current direction and Zone).
This selection will either automatically create a program policy for you or will change an existing program policy.
Block once. Blocks access this time. The prompt will display the next time this program attempts communication.
Block always. Blocks access all the time; you will no longer see a prompt for this program (in the current direction and Zone).
This selection will either automatically create a program policy for you or will change an existing program policy.
Click any of the following:
For outgoing communication, click on the program name that displays on the top of the window. A Windows Properties window that displays various file attributes will open.
Click Show details to show information about the program and its communication attempt. The following displays:
Local Program. The location and program on your computer that is involved in the communication attempt.
IntelliDefense Category. The IntelliDefense category and description of the program. (More on IntelliDefense.)
Remote Address. The address of the remote computer or Web site that is involved in the communication attempt.
Direction. The direction of the communication attempt: Incoming or Outgoing.
Zone. The Zone that the communication attempt belongs to: Trusted Zone or Internet Zone.
Select the Activate default program permissions check box if you do not want to see prompts for any programs. Programs will automatically either be blocked or allowed, as set up in default program permissions.
Note: Selecting this option turns
of all prompts, not just the prompts for the current program.
